Repeat Prescriptions

Kindly note that during the Coronavirus pandemic Repeat Prescriptions may be ordered on-line or over the phone if you are over 70. Your repeat prescription will not be available for collection from the surgery. Please nominate the pharmacy you would like your prescription to be sent electronically to.  

Requests for Repeat Prescriptions can only be accepted in writing.

Please place requests in the Prescription box in the entrance foyer - the box is emptied regularly during the day, so there is no need to queue at reception.

Please allow a minimum of 2 complete working days for your prescription to be processed - if there is a query with your request it may take longer.

Please also remember to allow extra time for weekends and Public Holidays as requests should not be made to the Out of Hours service or A&E departments.

Urgent on the day prescriptions will only be issued at the Doctor's discretion and you will be asked to complete a form for the request to be processed.

We can arrange for your prescription to be picked up by a local pharmacist of your choice so that you may collect your dispensed prescription there. We cannot fax routine prescriptions to the pharmacist.

We can post your prescription directly to you, if you provide a stamped addressed envelope.

Your medication will be reviewed at regular intervals by the doctor, and from time to time you may be asked to make an appointment for this purpose. Please check your repeat prescription slip to see if the doctor has included a message for you.

Online Service - Repeat Prescriptions

Applying for access to our online repeat prescription service is easy. Simply complete the form below and hand it to our reception team. Your online registration information will include your user code for Patient Access which will be unique to your patient record. You will not be able to use this code to book/cancel appointments or order repeat prescriptions for any other patient. You can choose to receive your registration information by email or by collection from reception (5 working days after submission of application).

Unwanted Prescription Items

All Practices are being asked to manage their Prescribing Costs so as to support the financial pressures on the NHS.   

The Practice is aware that patients may often have their prescription dispensed by the pharmacist but choose not to use the medication. This medication is then wasted, however the cost of it is still charged.

If you are provided with a prescription item that you do not intend to use please ask the doctor or the pharmacist to cancel it.

Please help us minimise waste so as to maximise resources for all patients.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

Electronic Prescription Service

If you have not already done so, please nominate the pharmacy you would like your prescription to be sent to electronically to. 

The practice is now able to produce and transmit a prescription to a pharmacy you have nominated. This removes the need to produce a paper prescription. 

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) enables you to collect your medications from a pharmacy at a location convenient to you; it could be near your work place, for example.

You can apply to use this service by simply completing our: 

Electronic Prescribing Pharmacy Nomination Form and return it to the surgery.

You can also register for this service at your preferred pharmacy and they will notify us of your registered nomination.

If you have already nominated a pharmacy please remember your prescriptions will automatically be sent to the pharmacy unless you ask us to do otherwise. You may check your pharmacy nomination at reception to ensure your preference has not changed since completing your EPS registration form.
